Deciding Between Activities?

Reasons To Choose Music Lessons

Children who take music lessons show marked improvement in reading and math skills.

Researchers have found that children given piano lessons improved much more dramatically in their special-temporal IQ scores.

Vocal and speech development can improve through singing.

A research team exploring the link between music and intelligence reported that music training is far superior to computer instruction in dramatically enhancing children’s abstract reasoning skills, the skills necessary for learning math and science.

Students with experience in music performance and music programs score an average of 57 points higher in the verbal portion, and 47 points higher in the math portion of the SAT’s than students with no music education.  They also achieve higher grades in high school.

Students who participate in music programs receive more awards and academic honors than do their peers with no such experience.

  • In fact they are four times as likely to be recognized for academic achievement.
  • Three times more likely to be elected to class office within their schools.
  • Four times more likely to participate in a math and science fair.
  • Three times more likely to win an award for school attendance.
  • Four times as likely to win an award for writing an essay or poem.

Music provides children and adults with a means of self-expression.

Music performance teaches young people to conquer fear.

Music improves and strengthens concentration, coordination, relaxation, patience and self confidence.

With music lessons students develop a skill they can use for their lifetime!
